The Wally Seaton Memorial Cup is taking place at the Tigers Bar and Social Club in Holbeach




The Wally Seaton Memorial Cup is being held at the Tigers Bar and Social Club in Holbeach on Friday night.

The draw is taking place at 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start.

Entry is £8 per player and youth players from the age of 10-years upwards are welcome to attend.

Entries can be taken on the night and the competition has a first prize of £250 with £125 for the runner-up. Semi-finalists receive £30 with £10 for quarter-finalists.

Matches are played to a 501 format over the best of five legs with no bust back.

All proceeds from the event will go to local charities and a raffle will be held on the night.

The event was won last year by Leighton Bennett who defeated Scott Williams in the final.

Williams, a past World Championship semi-finalist, had won the previous two tournaments but was denied a hat-trick by Bennett who recorded a 3-2 victory.

The competition is played in memory of Wally Seaton who once won the News of the World Darts Championship in 1966/67.

Holbeach and District League results

Division One: Crown Hotel 14 Royal British Legion 9, Greyhound 7 Tigers C 14, Rose & Crown A 13 Tigers D 9, Tigers B 11 Tigers A 10.

Division Two: Anchor A 9 Holbeach Services Club A 13, Parkside 11 Crown & Mitre 12, Tigers K 14 Five Bells A 10.

The final week of the season saw Consti Club C claim the runners-up spot in Division A of the Crowson Volkswagen Pinchbeck and District Winter Darts League.

They recorded a 6-3 home win over the Drayman's Arms B with singles successes for Ted Howling, Jordan Phillpott, Jacob Herd and Paul Faulkner securing the victory.

Herd had a 17-dart leg in his 2-0 singles win over Kev Newton while, for the Drayman's, Phil Newton produced a 17-dart leg in his 2-0 win against Josh Faulkner.

Services Club B needed to better the Consti score to take second place but could only manage a 5-4 win away at the Consti Club B.

Tony Clark and Ben Chester had a 16-dart leg in their pairs game and Ady Smith hit a 180 in his singles win helping him to an 18-dart leg for the Services.

Matt Broderick hit his third 180 of the season for the Consti in his singles win.

Lincoln Arms D suffered a 6-3 home defeat to the Green Dragon A.

Former world championship semi-finalist Scott Williams starred for the Dragon with 16 and 18-dart legs in his 2-0 singles win before producing an 18-dart leg with partner Kiaran Grove in their pairs success.

Wins in the last three singles by Andy Palmer, Tony Spinks and Stacey Banister for the Lincoln saved a bigger loss.

Royal Mail Cart had a 6-3 away win at Pinchbeck FC A.

Josh Ford had an 18-dart leg for the Mail Cart side.

Champions Lincoln Arms A have been awarded a 6-0 walkover against the Drayman's Arms B in their outstanding fixture to complete an unbeaten season at the top.

In Division B, Consti Club Z needed one point to take the title and secured it in the very first pairs game against the Consti Club D.

They went on to win 5-4 with Brandon Elderkin and Mick Atkin winning the last two singles to claim the victory.

Atkin hit a 180 in his game while Nick Collins had a 17-dart leg in his 2-0 win over Paul Merrill for the D team.

The runners-up spot is still to be decided with second-placed Green Dragon Z losing 5-4 at home to third-placed Kirton Leisure.

Leisure are now six points behind with a game in hand to be played. Alex Bemrose of the Leisure had a 160 checkout.

Services Club A had a narrow 5-4 home win over Pinchbeck FC B. Callum O'Driscoll had a 100 check-out for the Services.

Drayman's Arms A won 5-4 at home to the Consti Club A.

Scott O’Connell won the last singles 2-1 against Martin Garth for the Drayman's.

Another last game win for Jay Fountain of the Lincoln Arms C gave them a 5-4 victory away at the Green Dragon C.

Jamie Robson had a 113 finish and a 16 dart leg for the Dragon in his singles win over Duane Harrison.
