Pinchbeck United complete their Thurlow Nunn League season this weekend

Manager Lewis Thorogood is urging his Pinchbeck United side to maintain their drive and motivation for the final two games of the Thurlow Nunn League season.

The Knights complete their Division One North campaign with two games over the Easter weekend.

They host relegated Swaffham Town at the Sir Halley Stewart ground on Saturday before making the short trip to Holbeach United for their season finale on Easter Monday.

Pinchbeck go into the final two games on the back of a six-match unbeaten run which has also featured four successive clean sheets.

Thorogood feels that is testament to the efforts of his charges who will finish inside the top 10 in the division in their first season back at step six of the non-league pyramid following relegation last term.

The Knights boss said: "We have a target for the final two games of the season and the boys are grafting hard.

"We went to Holland on Saturday which is a hideous journey and there are many reasons to go there in April with nothing to play for and just go through the motions and get turned over.

"Credit to these boys because they do have a lot of pride and the beauty of this group is that they do want to finish strongly.

"They want to be the best they can be and put in the building blocks for next season.

"There is a real drive and motivation to build for next season and, if we do end up finishing eight games unbeaten, you kind of don't want to stop.

"You want to keep going but unfortunately the world doesn't work like that and it will be a seven to eight-week break before the boys are back in again."

The Knights are offering a 'pay what you want' initiative for Saturday's final home game of the campaign where their end of season awards will be presented afterwards.

Thorogood added: "It's our last home game of the season and we want to try and get as many people as possible to come down and enjoy a game of affordable football.

"Hopefully we can continue our unbeaten run and then acknowledge the efforts of the squad this season in a very challenging league with the distances we have to travel."

Holbeach head to Haverhill Borough on Saturday before their home derby with Pinchbeck on Monday.

Bourne Town and Deeping Rangers also complete their regular season in the United Counties League this weekend.

The Wakes host Hucknall Town on Saturday before visiting Harrowby United on Monday with Michael Goode's side having already secured a play-off place with the title still a possibility if leaders Lincoln United or second-placed Eastwood CFC drop points in their last two games.

Deeping need a win from their final two matches to guarantee their step five status for next season.

The Clarets are four points clear of the danger zone ahead of their home match with Harrowby United on Saturday and a trip to Wisbech Town on Easter Monday.

Spalding United have a double-header in the Southern League Premier Division Central.

The Tulips travel to AFC Sudbury on Saturday before entertaining neighbours Stamford on Easter Monday.

Jimmy Dean's side are four points adrift of the play-off spots with three games remaining. They complete their campaign at Barwell on April 26.
