Stock car racing round-up
Spalding F2 stock car drivers, who were in action at Saturday’s white and yellow grade meeting at King’s Lynn, put on a great display and recorded some impressive results.
Things started off well in the first heat which was open to white grade drivers only and saw the area's only representative in the race Barry Clow come home in a great second place.
Barry came through from towards the second row and was up to second place by the third lap but he had no chance with winner Alex Butcher who had flown from pole position.
Pat Issitt was on a charge in the second heat and hit the front with five laps to go.
It was a great confidence boosting drive from Pat and he took a comfortable win.
Behind him was another of the area's stars Steve Wycherley who came home for third place with Daniel Vaughan securing sixth.
If a driver had a top three finish they were upgraded for the rest of the night and Pat Issit was effectively a blue top when he came home in fourth place in heat three. Wycherley also placed sixth and Barry Clow 11th.
Issitt was involved in a tremendous scrap in the meeting final with Marcus Gilbert and Ricky Castell.
This trio traded places through what was a tremendous race. Pat eventually came home in third place with Marcus taking the chequered flag. Another good drive by Daniel Vaughan also saw him come home in eighth.
Racing returns to King’s Lynn on Saturday, July 15, when the 1300 Stock Cars are back in action with racing also coming from the 1500cc, micro and junior bangers.
