Bourne Abbey Primary Academy is once again rated outstanding

Bourne Abbey Primary Academy has once again received a judgment of outstanding as a Church of England Primary School.

The Church Section 48 inspection report published last week, and the second since the school was granted church status in September 2008, pays tribute to the outstanding quality of education provided.

Executive headteacher Cherry Edwards said: “We are exceptionally proud of our school and what we continue to achieve together.

“We are delighted that our Section 48 inspection went so well and that once again Bourne Abbey has been awarded a grade of outstanding. Visiting inspectors to our school were hugely impressed with our pupils who as always are the stars.

“We are also very pleased that the report pays tribute to the strong partnerships that continue to thrive with our parents, carers and with the local and wider national and international community.”

Chairman of governors John Kirkman added: “ Comments clearly show that the school has continued to be strengthened by Church Status and the values it promotes which permeate every aspect of school life.

“In addition the report bears out the confidence we have in the leadership and vision of the executive headteacher Cherry Edwards and the hard work, skills and passionate commitment of the whole leadership team, teachers, support staff, parents and governors who work so hard on behalf of our pupils.”

The report stated that the school was a “safe, nurturing and inclusive environment” and that “Christian values inspire and direct all aspects of daily life”.

It also said “spiritual, moral, social and cultural development was outstanding” and was achieved through a wide and rich curriculum, as well as extra activities and visits.

It said academic progress from start to finish was “at least good and for most outstanding” and praised the effectiveness of Mrs Edwards and the governors, supported by talented and skilled staff.
