Persimmon reveals plans for 230 homes at Bourne

Housing developer Persimmon Homes has begun consulting Bourne residents over its latest housing plans.

Last week, people living in the Elsea Park where notified about its proposals for 230 'high quality' homes, 36 of which would be affordable, on land at Zone 6A and part of Zone 7 in Elsea Park.

Outline planning permission was granted in 2001 for 'Residential and associated development, link road, estate roads, open space and landscaping.'

The longstanding permission, Persimmon says, established the 'suitability of Else Park' for development.

Now, the housebuilder is submitting detailed plans at the reserved matters stage including design proposals.

A letter from Persimmon Homes development planner Matthew Harmsworth told residents: "We believe it is a logical and deliverable site for residential development, located close to existing facilities with excellent access to main roads, public transport and cycle networks.

"Our proposal would make a substantial contribution to housing needs in Bourne, including 36 affordable homes which would provide people with the opportunity to continue living in the local area. It would also provide investment locally and areas of open space for new residents to enjoy.

"We are committed to the site and, subject to planning permission being granted, would be able to press ahead with delivering new homes as soon as possible so that they could potentially be available to new home buyers within the next year."

Persimmon also told residents it believes local involvement "is an important part of the planning process" and it is keen to hear the views of locals before it finalises its plans and submits a planning application to South Kesteven District Council.

The developer has set up a website with further details at https://sites.google.com/view/zones-6a-and-7-elseapark.

It says the homes would be a mix of one, two, three and four-bed homes, including detached, semis and terraced homes aimed at first time buyers, families and those looking to downsize.

New jobs would also be created during the construction of the homes.

The deadline for comments is September 13 and they can be sent to emidplanningsites@persimmonhomes.com

A company spokesman confirmed the company's commitment to the scheme but told the Mercury it was too early to set dates it.

It adds to other housing plans for Bourne.
