The Railway Inn, Ketton, named best pub in the county of Rutland
A pub on the Rutland-Lincolnshire border has been named one of the best in England.
The Railway Inn at Ketton, owned and run by Jamie and Linda Betts, is the best pub in Rutland, according to Daily Telegraph travel writer Will Hawkes, who carried out exhaustive research.
In an article headlined ‘The best pub in every English county’, Will reveals the places people should visit in every corner of the country.
The Railway Inn, which is renowned for good customer services, guest ales, local beers and popular favourites, doesn’t serve meals but always attracts plenty of customers. It was Camra’s regional pub of the year 2024.
Jamie and Linda became landlords in October 2019 and bought the pub in 2023.
Responding to the Daily Telegraph article, Jamie said: “We’re proud and honoured to be mentioned and it’s all testament to being a great little inn with great locals and regulars.”
Lincolnshire’s best pub was named as The Strugglers in Lincoln, while in Northamptonshire it was the Alexandra Arms, Kettering. Cambridgeshire’s favourite was The Queen’s Head in the village of Newton, south of Cambridge, while London’s best was The Cockpit near St Paul’s Cathedral.
