Bourne dance teacher Lauren Willis opens her own studio for LDC dance classes at Renu Health Beauty and Fitness

A dancer hopes to inspire a new generation of performers after fulfilling her dream of running her own studio.

Lauren Willis has taken over a studio space at Renu in Bourne which will be permanent home for her dance classes.

The 22-year-old has been running weekend classes from the premises in Abbey Road for five years alongside her studies at the University of East London.

When she completed her degree in urban practice, Lauren started to look for permanent premises and was thrilled when Renu owner Claire Saunders offered her the space at the health and fitness centre.

Lauren said: “Teaching dance is all I’ve ever wanted to do so this is a dream come true. To be given the extra space is incredible because we can now work towards more competitions and shows.”

Lauren teaches 70 children a week and has now added adult classes to her timetable.

She said: “I’ve danced all my life for as long as I can remember.

"I started the school to make sure children get to follow their passion for dance like I did.

“When I was at school I was really quiet and shy but as soon as I got into dancing it built up my confidence. To be able to pass that on to other people is amazing.”

Lauren now teaches street, urban and contemporary dance.

Renu owner Claire Saunder said: "I'm thrilled to help Lauren take her dance school to the next level.

"Dance has been proven to help wellbeing so I'm delighted to work with LDC as part of our offering."

Renu's own classes will continue as normal and customers will benefit from a newly refurbished studio for their workouts.
