Bourne roof fall teen Jack Osborne returns home after waking from coma
A schoolboy critically injured when he plunged 25ft through a barn roof has now returned home where he continues to make “incredible” progress.
Jack Osborne, 14, has been busy catching up with his friends and family, as well as his favourite pet duck Daphne.
It comes after the youngster was placed in an induced coma following the horror fall near Harvey Close in Bourne on June 9.
His family were told to expect the worst and had him baptised - but the Bourne Academy pupil has since made a recovery described by his uncle as “the stuff of miracles”.
Nick Thompson said: “Every single day he seems to make incredible steps forwards. We’re so glad he’s home now.
“He seems fine and is chatting non-stop. He’s so talkative, which is great, and remembers everything apart from actually falling through the roof.”
Jack suffered severe brain trauma, a bruised lung and broken collarbone in the accident. Surgeons had to remove sections of his skull to ease the pressure and save his life.
He now has to wear a protective helmet, but Nick said an operation would likely take place within the next few months to fit metal plates in Jack’s head.
The family knows the road to recovery could take time but they remain delighted with his progress.
“It’s been a much better outcome than we could ever have hoped for,” added Nick. “He’s still the same funny lad he was before; it’s not really changed his personality at all.”
The family previously warned other youngsters of the perils of derelict sites. Jack had been playing a game of ‘manhunt’ - similar to hide-and-seek - when he fell through the barn roof.
