EastEnders and The Office actor Joel Beckett delivers workshop to Tolethorpe Youth Drama Group
An EastEnders actor has given young rising stars tips on how to break into the industry.
Joel Beckett lead workshops for Tolethorpe Youth Drama on Saturday (May 13), giving children first hand advice on what it is like to be an actor.
Joel is best known for playing Jake Moon in the BBC soap opera EastEnders and Lee in the original version of the comedy series The Office.
Principal of Tolethorpe Youth Drama, Mary Benzies, described the workshops as ‘brilliant’.
“Everyone was thrilled,” she said.
“We could’ve talked to him for hours.”
The workshops focussed on screen acting and voice over skills - Joel’s speciality.

“We wanted to bring in visiting professionals throughout this month to work with the pupils,” said Mary.
Teachers at Tolethorpe Youth Drama have been in the performing arts industry so use their connections to find actors and productions professionals willing to teach pupils.
According to Mary, many of these performers return to teach further lessons.
