A new auction house is ready to throw down the hammer following its recent opening in the Stamford area.

Stamford Auction Rooms is the brainchild of Jessica Wall, a valuer and auctioneer, who with over 15 years experience decided to turn her dreams into a reality and open her very own auction house.

After years of planning, Jessica, one of only a few women in the country to own an auction house, opened the doors to Stamford Auction Rooms, located in Station Road, Little Bytham on Monday last week.

“Since I was a little girl I have been drawn to the exciting atmosphere of auctions,” said Jessica. “Needless to say opening my own auction house was an easy decision to make.”

Jessica, who grew up in Leicestershire and previously went to school in Oakham, began her career in the art and antiques trade as an apprentice furniture and art restorer, which led onto a great career working at one of London’s most major auction houses, Bonhams and then as a senior valuer and manager of Wilkinsons Auctioneers.

Since moving back to the area, Jessica has been overwhelmed with the support she has received from the local community and hopes that everyone will come down for the first auction event being held on January 30, of which she is already accepting entries.

“I really hope to bring that buzz of the auction back to Stamford,” said Jessica.
