Rutland Nursery at Manton is expanding with plans for a new restaurant overlooking Rutland Water

Owners of a long-established garden centre are expanding their premises to offer a better customer experience.

Visitors to Rutland Nursery at Manton will soon be able to enjoy panoramic views of Rutland Water from a new 100-seater restaurant.

The building will also incorporate the shop, freeing up the current glasshouses for more growing space.

Work started at the site, formerly known as Rutland Water Garden Centre, in 2021 and is expected to finish in spring.

The Ellis family said: “We saw the opportunity not just of the site itself, which is spectacular, but also of growing a fantastic family business.

“Our ambition is to continue the dedication to service and quality of the previous owners Bob and Trish Brown, and develop the nursery into a destination that the community deserves.”

A landscaped car park will offer more spaces, cycle racks and electric charging points.

The owners have not revealed how much the development will cost.

They added: “It is a naturally beautiful and relaxing place. We have thoroughly enjoyed the project so far and hope the community will share our experience.”
