Gift firm creates jobs with move to new home

Thriving luxury food and wine company Hay Hampers is set to create jobs with a £450,000 relocation to Bourne.

The 30-year-old family run firm is moving from its current premises in Corby Glen, into a new 6,300 sq ft warehouse in Roman Bank, in Bourne.

Managing director Gabriele Da Re said: “Last Christmas went very well for us and we found that we were struggling for space.”

Hay Hampers is made up of three divisions and sells luxury hampers, fine wines and Italian foods, sourced directly from Italy.

Mr Da Re said the company would seek to recruit more staff after the relocation, which is planned to take place by the end of June this year.

Currently, the firm employs nine people in its offices and two in the warehouse, The number of staff increases near Christmas.

Mr Da Re said the expansion would make the company less seasonal and that a few more people would be recruited.

He said that a central feature of the firm’s new base would be a food and wine academy, which would host courses and tasting sessions.

He added: “This is a unique opportunity.

“It will deliver further growth and secure highly skilled jobs for the area.”

The sale was carried out by agents Barker Storey Matthews (BSM).
