Historic Molecey House and Mill and the Granary in West Deeping to host weddings and events

The historic Molecey House and Mill and the Granary in West Deeping is to become a wedding and events venue.

The planning committee of South Kesteven District Council last week agreed a change of use from residential to mixed residential and commercial use for the buildings in Stamford Road.

The site previously had two owners but is now wholly owned by Glenn Fuller, who says he is ‘very excited’ about his plans.

“It’s spectacular here. To be able to share it and to give the historic buildings a future is really nice.”

Work on creating ‘soft’ car parking and new bridges for access will soon start, in consultation with South Kesteven District Council planning staff, with completion by the spring.

The plans allow 20 weddings a year, 80 per cent of which will be held between May and September, with a maximum of 200 guests.

Already, events are being booked for next Summer and housekeeping and grounds maintenance and other staff will be taken on. Local suppliers such as florists, caterers and dress hire firms should also benefit. Glenn said events already held on the site had been well supported with locals ‘blown away’ at the beauty of the ‘hidden’ attraction.

Glenn added: “I’m hoping it’s going to become quite a business for the area.”

Planning committee member Phil Dilks (Ind-Deeping St James) said:”The owners have already made ‘substantial’ improvements. It’s a beautiful setting. I have every confidence it will be a success.”
