Heatwave in Stamford, Bourne and Rutland with temperatures set to hit 33C
Temperatures in Stamford, Bourne and Rutland are expected to reach 33C this week as a heatwave hits the region.
The Met Office has warned of "exceptionally warm" temperatures reaching "heatwave thresholds" in some places.
It comes as hot air from France and Spain spreads across much of England and Wales.
Chief meteorologist Andy Page said: “As we head into next week temperatures will increase daily across much of England and Wales as hot air is drawn up from France and Spain. Temperatures could reach 34°C by Wednesday in parts of central, southern or eastern areas and heatwave thresholds are likely to be reached in some places.”
Despite being overcast today (Monday, July 22), temperatures will reach 26C, before rising to 31C tomorrow, 29C on Wednesday and 33C on Thursday.
Temperatures will then drop down to the early 20s by the weekend.
During a heatwave earlier this month, Bourne Outdoor Pool and the beach at Rutland Water drew hoards of visitors but currently the beach is closed after an outbreak of blue-green algae.
