John Lewis in Peterborough is among the eight stores due to permanently close.
Shoppers from Stamford, Rutland, Bourne and The Deepings will now have to travel to Leicester or Cambridge if they want to browse the department store.
John Lewis partnership, which includes Waitrose, revealed earlier this month annual losses of £517m and that it did not expect to reopen all of its stores when restrictions on non-essential shops end in April.
A consultation has begun with staff about the proposed closure.
