Oakham McDonald's opening hours to change due to Light and Life festival at Rutland Showground

The McDonald's branch in Oakham will have different opening hours this week as a result of a festival being hosted at Rutland Showground.

The fast-food restaurant was closed this morning (June 21) with police stood at the entrance following reports youths from the festival terrorised staff and diners over the weekend.

A McDonald’s spokesman: “The safety of our people and customers is always our absolute priority. Due to a sudden surge in customer numbers today, we were forced to close the restaurant to new customers for a short period so that we could maintain social distancing.

"We understand that this was caused by an event in the local area which will be continuing throughout the week, so our Oakham restaurant will be operating slightly modified opening hours to ensure we can continue to manage social distancing effectively and to keep our people safe. "

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate our customer’s continued patience during this time.”

It is unclear what the changes are to the opening hours.
