Dunsby resident release historical book

A book has been released documenting eight centuries of village history.

Peter Honniball, who lives in Dunsby, used an abundance of archive resources to create his first book.

The archives are stored in Dunsby and are also held in Nottingham and London.

His book, History of Dunsby includes recounts about the clergy, ‘the black sluice drain’ and a story of a drunkard.

Peter, 78, said: “There’s a lot of trivia, and a lot of history.”

He first had the idea to write the book when he was shown a 17th Century map of the village.

The book includes a copy of this historic map, which folds out at the back of the hardback.

Peter has lived in an 18th Century cottage in Dunsby since 1978 and has always been interested in the history of the village.

He said: “It’s changed very drastically recently as we’ve had lots of new families.”

“When I moved in lots of people had spent their whole life in Dunsby,” he added.

People can purchase History of Dunsby, priced £16, from Bourne Bookshop in the Burghley Centre, or by getting in contact with Peter directly using the e-mail pjhonniball@hotmail.co.uk
