New homes planned for Whissendine in Rutland
Plans have been submitted to build up to 66 houses in Rutland.
Developer Muller Property Group is behind the proposals planned for land next to Stapleford Road in Whissendine.
The plans, which have been submitted to Rutland County Council, are for a combination of detached, semi-detached and terraced homes.
In the documents submitted to the council, the Cheshire-based developer says it will use dark or grey tiles on the roofs of the new houses to ensure they “complement the surrounding character of the village”.
There will be a mixture of market and affordable housing, while two ecology ponds and informal green spaces are included within the development.
Whissendine Parish Council, as well as a number of residents in the area, have opposed the proposals.
Concerns have been raised about increased pressure on infrastructure and the site’s historical importance.
The parish council says the land has been listed as historically important as a unique example of ancient ridge and furrow.
A decision on the plans is expected to be made in May.
The time frame for the development is not known.
