Sushi and soul food restaurant Hoppi Dorri in Stamford wins Restaurant and Bar Design Award 2020 for work by B3 Designers
The design of a Stamford restaurant has seen it win an award.
Hoppi Dorri, the sushi and soul food restaurant in All Saints’ Place, has won the international Restaurant and Bar Design Award 2020 for its use of colour, competing with entries from all over the UK.
The 114-cover restaurant, which opened last year, was designed by interior design studio B3 Designers to pay homage to late-night Asian-food markets.
Founder and creative director of the London-based B3, Mark Bithrey said: “For Hoppi Dorri, colour shone through right from the start. We were taken by the Japanese street markets’ striking signs, layered neons, assorted yet complementary furniture, pops of bright posters and street art, and indoor-outdoor flexible food and drink operations.”
The design spans two floors, with street art, lanterns, and furniture to bring the restaurant to life.
The ground floor has a 10-seat sushi bar where diners can watch the chef prepare sushi and sashimi. Upstairs, the first-floor bar is the focal point of the dining area, which is divided by reclaimed windows and doors and has an outdoor terrace.
Chris Riddle and Holly Withers, of Hoppi Dorri, said: “As an independent restaurant we are absolutely overjoyed to have won such a prestigious award in a relatively small town and to put Stamford on the map.
“B3 truly brought our vision to life. We still get a buzz every day walking through the restaurant and we know our customers do
too. To say we are proud is an understatement.”
