Orbis Stamford, Orbis Oakham and Hoppi Dorri in Stamford close to keep customers safe after staff contacted by NHS Test and Trace

A business owner has closed the doors of his restaurants to protect staff and customers from coronavirus.

Orbis Stamford, Orbis Oakham and Hoppi Dorri in Stamford have been closed after staff members were contacted by NHS Test and Trace to inform them they have been in close contact with a positive Covid-19 case.

The decision to close until Wednesday next week (July 21) was announced on all three of the businesses' social media channels.

Jonathan Spencer, owner, said: "Several of our staff were contacted after being out watching the football on Sunday night. We made the decision to close until we had further guidance.

"As we are running with small team anyway, we hadn't got enough members of staff to open both Orbis businesses.

"Subsequently we have made the decision to also close Hoppi Dorri as several members of the team have worked across the restaurants in the last week."

On an Instagram post, he said there was no need for customers to be worried as they have not been open since Saturday night.

Jonathan said: "As you can probably imagine it's a difficult time for hospitality at the moment and this really isn't what we needed but it is in the safety of both our staff and customers interest we have made this decision.

"There is no financial support for businesses making this decision on their own so it really isn't when we have made lightly."

He extended his apologies to all customers who have had their reservations cancelled this week.
