Restaurants, bars and cafés in Lincolnshire with 0 or 1 food hygiene ratings
Going out for a drink and a bite to eat is a treat for many but people want to know the food put in front of us has been cooked properly in clean conditions.
Across Lincolnshire there are thousands of eateries, the majority of which boast positive food hygiene ratings.
However there are 40 restaurants, pubs and cafés which have been told urgent or major improvements are necessary.
The hygiene ratings range from zero to five, with five meaning standards are very good and fully comply with the law.
Zero is at the bottom of the scale and means urgent improvement is necessary.

South Kesteven
Hong Kong Restaurant, All Saints’ Street, Stamford
Rating: Zero
This restaurant was last inspected on October 31 this year.
The food safety officer found major improvement was needed in all three areas: hygienic food handling, cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, and management of food safety.
Oblio's Deli and Bistro, Westgate, Grantham
Rating: Zero
An inspector visited the restaurant on May 25 this year.
Major improvement was needed in hygienic food handling and management of food safety while improvement was necessary for the cleanliness and condition of facilities.
7 Cafe, Guildhall Street, Grantham
Rating: One
The last inspection took place on January 24 this year.
An inspector found management of food safety needed major improvement while cleanliness and condition of facilities also needed necessary work.
Hygienic food handling was generally satisfactory.
Crown Wok In, West Street, Bourne
Rating: One
An inspection on January 27 of this year found cleanliness and condition of facilities and the building, and hygienic food handling needed improvement. Major work needed to be done in the management of food safety.
Kew's Garden Cafe, West Street, Bourne
Rating: One
An inspection took place on May 30, 2023.
Major improvements need to be made in the management of food safety and improvement is necessary in hygienic food handling. An inspector found cleanliness and the condition of the facilities was good.
Pizza Express, High Street St Martins, Stamford
Rating: One
Inspectors visited the pizza chain on October 18 this year.
They said management of food safety needed major improvement and the cleanliness and condition of the facilities and building should be improved.
Hygienic food handling was considered good.
A spokesperson for Pizza Express said an ‘isolated damp issue’ in the historic building ‘impacted the overall score at this review’, and in January next year the building will undergo work to resolve the issues.
South Holland
New Sunlight, Market Place, Donington
Rating: One
This takeaway was last inspected on October 5 this year.
The inspector said major improvement was necessary in the management of food safety.
Improvement was also needed in the cleanliness and condition of facilities and hygienic food handling.
North Kesteven
Maya Indian Takeaway, Station Road, Heckington
Rating: One
Inspectors issued the rating following a visit on January 18.
Cleanliness and condition of facilities and the hygienic food handling were satisfactory but the management of food safety was deemed to require major improvements.
The Supreme, Linden Avenue, Branston
Rating: One
This takeaway was visited by an inspector on February 21.
Improvements were needed in hygienic food handling and cleanliness and condition of facilities with changes in the management of food safety deemed as major.
The White Hart, High Street, Metheringham
Rating: One
This village inn had an inspector visit on December 13 last year.
Hygienic food handling and the cleanliness and condition of facilities were both considered very good.
