Stamford Post Office to reopen on Friday after five-day coronavirus closure

Stamford Post Office is set to reopen tomorrow (Friday) with limited opening hours after coronavirus forced it to close for five days.

The town's main branch, in All Saints Place, closed on Saturday because of staffing issues caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

It will open on Friday with the revised hours of 11am to 1pm and 1.45pm to 3.30pm, and from 10am to midday on Saturday.

Customers were unhappy at being asked to make a 12-mile diversion to the Orton Southgate sorting office, near Peterborough, to collect packages that went undelivered between Monday, February 15 and Saturday, February 21.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure of the branch," a Post Office spokesman said.

"We hope to be able to offer longer hours next week."

The spokesman added: "Customers are advised to visit www.postoffice.co.uk/branch-finder for the latest opening hours.

“In the interim, alternative branches include Sutherland Way, Easton on the Hill, Ketton and Ryhall.”
