Wildcats Theatre School returns to Stamford Arts Centre

A Stamford theatre school is expanding by going back to where it all started.

Wildcats Theatre School has entered into a partnership by becoming Stamford Arts Centre’s resident theatre school, where owner Caz Dolby started the school back in 2008.

She said: “Being in the heart of the local community is important to us, as is being in a working theatre.

“This move enables us to work in partnership with Stamford Arts Centre, developing more opportunities for local children and young people but also bringing more of the arts to our own students with the chance to get involved with so much more within the arts centre building.

“Being the resident theatre school means our students have access to a working theatre - and as such over the coming months even more amazing opportunities will be launched in this new and exciting partnership.

“I am personally excited to be moving to the arts centre.

“This was where Wildcats began its journey back in 2008, so it’s very fitting that we should come full circle and return to the venue to work together on building creative opportunities for children and young people from across the local area.”

Over the next six months, Wildcats will be moving from its current location at Castle House in St Peter’s Hill to the Arts Centre.

New facilities, including a private studio, classroom and storage areas, will be included, along with full use of the Arts Centre and its additional facilities.

The new partnership will offer an even greater variety of activities such as new classes for the under fives and the opportunity for it to become an Arts Award Hub for Stamford.

Graham Burley, cultural services team leader for South Kesteven District Council, which manages Stamford Arts Centre said: “We are very pleased to welcome Wildcats Theatre School to the arts centre.

“We are passionate about creating opportunities for children and young people to be involved in the arts.”

A number of Wildcats projects have already been held at the arts centre, including the cast rehearsals for High School Musical 2 being performed in July in the arts centre theatre.
