Where to take donations for Ukraine in Stamford
People wanting to support Ukrainian refugees can make donations of equipment in Stamford tomorrow (Saturday).
Items, which are listed below, can be dropped off between 9am and 1pm on Saturday at Luscious Lox inside Westside Gym, West Street, Stamford PE9 2PN.
They will then be delivered by St Olga Ukrainian Catholic Church in Peterborough, which is coordinating the transportation of local donations to refugees.
Jane Williams, owner of the Luscious Lox salon, spent 16 years in the RAF including time at the airbase in Wittering.
Now she is putting her logistical skills to use again by co-ordinating the donation station in Stamford.
She said: "I saw what was happening on the news - one minute people were at work, at universities, and doing normal things like having hair appointments, and the next they are having to leave their own country. It was shocking.
"I couldn't do nothing, and so I decided to look at how I could help.
"I have a team of volunteers ready, who will go through and check all the items before they go to St Olga's, and we have a van to transport everything over to Peterborough."
Thanks to donations made already, the only clothing items needed are new socks and underwear for children and adults, and hats, scarves and gloves.
Medication is needed but cannot be sent if it is out of date. Pillows and duvets are not being taken at the moment, due to space issues.
