Blackstones beat Potton in the semi-final of the Hinchingbrooke Cup

Blackstones claimed their third successive higher level scalp to book a place in the final of the Hinchingbrooke Cup on Wednesday night.

They defeated South Midlands League Premier Division side Potton 2-0 in the semi-final clash at Lincoln Road.

Kieran Duffy-Weekes scored both goals as Stones backed up their earlier wins over Deeping Rangers and Eynesbury Rovers to secure a cup final clash against March Town United.

The Stones skipper had put his side ahead after 16 minutes when he whipped in a free-kick following a foul on Will Bestwick that evaded everybody before nestling in the net.

Home goalkeeper Simon Dalton then made a couple of impressive saves to ensure Stones held their lead at the break.

Nathan Rudman, Florian Tsagium and Bestwick all came close to adding to Stones' tally in the second half before they doubled their lead with 20 minutes remaining as Duffy-Weekes hit a superb strike from outside the area into the bottom corner of the Potton net.

However, the evening then turned sour for Duffy-Weekes as he collected two cautions for dissent in the final five minutes and was sent off.

The Royals had a couple of good chances late on but 10-man Stones held to deservedly earn their cup final place.

They are back in United Counties League Division One action on Saturday with a home match against third-placed Kirby Muxloe.
