Macmillan's World's Biggest Coffee Morning 2020: Here is what's happening in the Spalding, Holbeach and Long Sutton area
Next Friday (September 25) is the day when people are invited to raise a cup and enjoy a coffee and cake to help Macmillan Cancer Support.
Each September, the charity runs its World's Biggest Coffee Morning, and many venues in the area usually take part.
This year, things will be a little different with socially distanced and virtual events taking place.
Among the socially distanced events taking place will be a coffee morning at The Chequers in Weston.
Sara Woodrow, who runs the Epulari Cake Company , which has a new stall at Spalding Market on Tuesdays, will be hosting the event. Her market stall is a trendy converted horse box, which even has lights in it.
The coffee morning event at the Chequers runs from 9am until 3pm next Friday.
"It will be a takeaway service and Katie at Chequers has said we can use her outside chairs for a group of six people for teas and coffees," Sara explained. "But the cake will be takeaway, like at the market stall."
Sara Woodrow set up the Epulari Cake Company around three years ago. She makes tray bakes, such as brownies, blondies and flapjacks, at her five star kitchen at home.
Also hosting a Macmillan Coffee Morning event is Long Sutton Hockey Club. Its event runs from 10am until 4pm. Bakes will be offered which have been donated by club members with support from Puddingpoke Puds, Snax Cafe and Cottage Bakes. People can reserve a table at the club with outdoor seating available (weather permitting). They ask that bookings are preferably for no more than four at a table.
The Tulip Queen restaurant in Spalding is also advertising its Macmillan Coffee Morning. It runs from 10am until midday.
Prices of their cakes start from 50p and have been made by the staff. Tea and coffee is included with the purchase of a slice of cake and there are prizes to be won in a raffle.
- Due to the changing situation with the coronavirus it is advisable to check with the venues in advance before heading out to any event.
